Cleaning Tips for Staircases

If you’ve never had a timber staircase before you may not be sure how to clean them properly, so here are some handy tips to get you started –

Cleaning a Sticky Handrail – The oils from your hands can build up on handrails over time but regularly wiping with a baby wipe break down grime. A mix of vinegar and water removes any oil-based residue from the timber too.

Sweep the Corners – Cleaning wooden stairs with a brush may seem quite straight-forward but you will need to make sure you do a thorough job to remove any lingering dirt from corners of the stairs.

Preserving your Timber – The biggest enemy of wood is moisture, so if your stairs require more than a quick sweep use a damp rag and dry quickly as you go. You can follow up with vegetable wax (similar to Brazilian wax) which protects against humidity and wear.
