Here at Brinard Joinery, we opt to use Accoya wood for many of our projects; and highly recommend many of our customers to choose this style of timber when given the choice.
Of course, we recommend Accoya wood for a number of reasons, not just because of the incredible grain that it offers.
Life expectancy
Accoya wood goes through a special process that helps to increase its lifespan, both above ground and fully submerged. This process means that above ground, not submerged, but open to the elements, it has a life expectancy of around 50 years.
Where the wood is submerged, or in the ground, the life expectancy is still longer than that of untreated timber at 25 years.
Read more about the process here: “Brinard Joinery and Accoya Wood“.
Sustainable
While making the choice to invest in timber windows and doors means that you are already making an environmentally-friendly choice. However, not all timber used in bespoke joinery is sustainably sourced.
Here at Brinard Joinery, we made the conscious choice that wherever we source our timber from would be sustainably sourced. At Accoya, they are strong promoters of sustainable sourcing. This means that they source their wood from fast-growing and sustainable sources, as approved by FSC (Forest Stewardship Council).
Energy efficient
The treatment process that our Accoya wood goes through before reaching us means that you will have the most energy-efficient wooden doors and windows available.
Accoya doors have been through a treatment that helps to stop them swelling in the winter. This means that you do not have to allow for swelling when it comes to fitting your bespoke Accoya door. In turn, this increases energy efficiency.
Previously, timber doors and windows have been known for not being the most energy-efficient. However, the treatment the timber goes through at Accoya means that this is no longer the case and we can now offer A-rated timber windows and doors.
Beautiful Finish
While we may be biased here at Brinard Joinery, we love real wood. It offers a beautiful finish and looks great on any home. At Accoya, they primarily choose a stunning redwood for their treatment. While they primarily chose this for its fast growth and sustainable nature, it offers an incredible grain; which is enhanced by the treatment process and again by any wood stain you wish to have.
Excellent Joinery Wood
Above all else, Accoya wood is an excellent choice for joinery. The treatment process means that it is a softwood with a hard finish. This allows it to be easily manipulated to create the perfect joints in the perfect design for your home or business.
This also means that any onsite adjustments that need to be made while we install your new bespoke joinery.
At Brinard Joinery, we are proud to be supporters of Accoya wood, and hope that you too can see why we choose to use this type of wood across our wooden doors, timber windows, and wooden conservatories.
